If you’ve been keeping a close eye on our social media, you will already know
that a couple of months ago we were “Royally” invited to spend an afternoon at
Buckingham Palace for The Not Forgotten Association Garden Party!
Our friends at The Royal British Legion Village in Aylesford invited us for our
efforts with their Living Industries side of the charity. The R.B.L.I support
Veterans and people within the Armed forces with their everyday needs and
Needless to say Victoria and I were super excited! Any excuse to wear a fancy
frock and hat. And wear a fancy frock and hat we did! We chose to debut our
Vintage Rose Swing Dress (Victoria) and Vintage Rose Hepburn (Holly) from The
Pretty Dress Company. This is a stunning pattern and we blended in perfectly
amongst the Queen’s Rose Garden. We also teamed it with our bespoke
Fascinators from Bee Smith Millinery. We met with Bee a couple of times ahead
of the occasion to match up colours and talk styles. We also got a sneak peak at
her collection inside her office! Ladies, if you need a hat for a special event, Bee is
So, outfits sorted, we spent the afternoon admiring the presentation by HRH The
Duchess of Gloucester to some of our wonderful Veterans. We enjoyed a
delightful afternoon Tea (best cuppa we’ve ever had!) whilst star spotting and
listening to the big band. We took a glorious walk around the palace gardens, the
sun was shining down on us that day which made it even more enjoyable. We
even got to have a little look into the palace itself! No photo’s unfortunately but
we got a very small taste of what it would be like to be a princess.
In all seriousness, it was a wonderful afternoon spent with our beloved Veterans.
We owe so much to them and it was such an honour to share this moment in
giving something back to them. It’s definitely a memory to cherish and a check
off the bucket list, a surreal moment in ones life!
We will be performing again at The Royal British Legion Village on the 7th of December
2019 as part of their Christmas Market. We hope to see you there!
